What is your name and what city do you rep?
97 Balazs, I rep Cleveland, Ohio
Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?
I’m a huge fan of guitars in my music so I told my producer Sav that I needed more guitars in the production. As soon as he sent me the beat I knew it was a hit. I get into the studio and I wanted to express how I was feeling in that moment. I’m a very spiritual person and I believe that we are all connected and that I’ve been following my higher calling for some time. Tell me was a call out to my guide/guides whether that be my intuition, God, or someone I met that day who invited me to something new. I am always up for growth and being open to it is the first step.
What is unique about you and your music?
my uniqueness comes from my life experience. Like I said before being open to growth is huge. I’ve lived through a lot of different situations with lots of very different people. I feel that I am a vessel of creativity looking for my next stage. Everything that I’m going through is communicated through my music. It’s basically a free view into my life.
What shaped your music?
a perfect balance between my upbringing and personal taste. Growing up you listen to what your parents play. My dad liked classic rock and classical. I feel like most of my production influence came from the composition of the classical music and the instrument selection of the classic rock. My mom has always listened to the radio so I got to hear what was “hot” I feel like a lot of my lyrical and vocal structure came from this. I also played a lot of sports when I was younger and my friends and I would listen to mainly hip hop and that where my love for the beat and 808s came from.
When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?
my whole life I was an athlete, I loved the spotlight on the field and I loved to win. I originally went to a small school to play football and baseball for my first year of college. Very soon I realized that I was done with sports. I transferred to Ohio state and joined a fraternity. My whole life changed....it went from very structured to basically doing whatever I wanted. It was at this time in my life when I started to go see Djs. I remember seeing Martin Garrix and Marshmello live and I knew that music was my way to keep performing. Now this made me think I was gonna be a dj and producer but that quickly changed when I came home and really started to explore my self and my intentions.
What type of music do you listen to?
I listen to a lot of everything. I usually have a top 5 list for right now but that changes all the time. I’d say the main genres are Hip hop, pop, rnb, and some edm. I also like Motown, and classical.
What inspires you to write music?
Love, struggle and triumph. I make music in the moment and it has to be real to me. Those three things I said are all very real to me and they make me feel something.
What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?
honestly everything has been about music recently. I really like to dress nice and shop. I don’t have the shopping budget I want yet but we gonna get there. I’ve been modeling recently for this clothing company called Next which has been a blessing. I like to hang with friend, smoke, and play video games. I really want that new NCAA football game to come out.
Happiness to you is…
Being able to make things happen for myself and the people I love. My loved ones are so important to me and I want to be able to help them in anyway I can.
What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?
don’t wait around for other people. No one is as passionate about you’re career as you are.
