What is your name and what city do you rep?
Des (stage name: Dee Stakz) I hail from Melbourne, Australia
Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?
I have so far released 2 songs 1. A 2 Da Bay (Feat. C-Dubb) and Lettin’ Myself Go. The first track I created with C-Dubb essentially as a way to introduce myself and to release some anger within myself for pursuing this earlier. Lettin’ Myself Go was more of social message within society and a little bit of my life which I wanted to share with the world.
What is unique about you and your music?
Given that I am from Australia which is not the traditional country you hear for rap and hip hop music, I wanted to continue to bring awareness that we do have rappers here and that it will continue to have more and more coming through as the years go by.
What shaped your music?
I respect what the old school rappers have done and their message in their songs really made me realise that I would like to tell my story to the world.
When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?
I realised this when I knew everything else I tried to do after taking a 12 year hiatus but still felt music all the time and felt the passion to want to keep making music that this would be my last chance to pursue my music.
What type of music do you listen to?
Rap, Hip-Hop, Classical, Pop and basically all genres of music because they all have beauty in their songs and you can learn to use different styles in my music.
What inspires you to write music?
2pac. He has left a massive legacy behind and his messages are still so relevant today that I draw from his inspiration.
What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?
I like to watch sports, listen to other artists to draw inspiration from and really try to spend time with family to escape my busy mind.
What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?
I wish I was told to have the right connections in the music business not just connections. Everyone is a good connection but the right one will get me to my next stage in life.
Tell us about your upcoming projects...
I’m currently working on a EP with C-Dubb from the Bay Area which should be released in the next few months.
Where do we find you music / music projects?
