What is your name and what city do you rep?

My stage name is Kache Monet (pronounced Cash Monay) and I am originally from Saginaw, Michigan but reside in Dallas, Texas now but I rep both cities.

Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?

My latest releases are "Darnell-I Know and it's about reconnecting to my African Roots. And my latest single is called "Hi Life 2" which is a follow up to the 2015 track "Hi Life" where I talk about living lavish and being confident and believing in yourself as an artist to inspire others on the same path as myself.
What is unique about you and your music?

I tend to talk about real life experiences and do it with little to no cursing at all, and that because I am very lyrical and like to utilize the English language and sometimes Spanish language in my rhymes to inspire others to think outside the box and be creative and different from what you hear on the radio or through TV or the internet. I also handle all of my own production, write my own lyrics,  etc and my goal is to stay independent and have creative freedom with my music.

What shaped your music?

My life experiences and the influences of mine which include Nipsey Hussle, Jay-Z, Nas, 2pac, The Game, and Logic to name some of my prominent influences since they share some of the same experiences that I have faced throughout my life and my career as an artist.

When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?

Well I started making beats at the age of 15, but I didn't take it seriously until I started rapping at the age of 19 and handing out demos at concerts and eventually attending a trade school in Arizona for audio engineering.  And it's been a serious profession of mine ever since.

What type of music do you listen to?

Besides hip hop and the influences I listed earlier, I listen to a lot of R&B, Pop, Jazz, and 70s and 80s funk and some rock music as well. Some of the artists in those genres include Floetry, Taylor Swift, Kenny G, Barry White, Roy Ayers, Limp Bizkit, Korn, etc.

What inspires you to write music?

Listening to other artists, the scenery as well, and just my overall mood. If I'm going through something in life, I'll tend to make more serious songs. If I am having a great time with some friends or just with family, I'll make more upbeat songs. Music is all about the emotions you experience and that's why I feel like everyone can connect to it since it evokes your emotions, which everyone has.

What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?

I am an avid reader, and I study a lot on astrology, the origins of religion, and the Zodiac. And I am into African spirituality and researching about Africa and its tribes and the origins of civilization which come from Africa and how life extended into other continents and how all of humanity links back to the motherland.

Happiness to you is…

A mindset. It's not about money or material possessions. It's about forming lasting relationships and being around the right people and it's about making mistakes and learning from them to grow as an individual and become stronger and draw closer to the creator. Sure, having money is good since it is a tool, but a person's happiness is defined by their actions and beliefs and how they can handle whatever life throws at them.

What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?

I wish that I would've sought the independent route solely instead of wanting to get signed, since that was my main goal like everyone else. And that mindset creates competition and division when in reality, we as artists need to network and grow together as one to further advance our careers. And of course to never give up, no matter what others say. At the end of the day, it's your life and your decision to become who you are destined to be.

Tell us about your upcoming projects...

I am working with a friend of mine by the artist name Aaron Sarkar of Sarkar Music from my hometown in Michigan who makes Desi music and producing some tracks for him now. And I am working on a new song myself which should be out either in late December or early January of 2020 at the latest. And one of the songs I did two years ago with the desi artist I just mentioned is in an independent film with Richard Pryor Jr. And it is scheduled to be in more films in the upcoming future. So I'm very excited about that.

Where do we find you music / music projects?

I am on all streaming platforms such as Google Play, iTunes, Deezer, Spotify, Tidal, etc. And on social media as we just google my name "Kache Monet"and you will find everything related to me and my music.

Any last words for the readers?

Stay positive and never give up your dreams. Never put a time limit on your goals. If you have a pulse, you have a purpose. And lastly, you only live once and live your life to the fullest, no matter what is going on in your life.
