Where are you from?

I'm originally from Modesto, CA, shout out to the 209! I moved up to Seattle in 2014 and have been grinding up here ever since.

 

Describe your sound:

When I listen to my newest EP I hear boom bap mixed with some of today's hip hop elements. Trapish hi-hats at times, elements of EDM and even Pop occasionally. One of the things I like about working with FYNIX is he takes what he likes from several genres/sub-categories and makes them all work in 1 production. You can definitely hear that in this track.

 

Tell us about your latest track:

Taking Back Sunday was a fun track to watch take shape. It started as 4 lines I freestyled in the car and texted myself that I later used to start the first verse on a song called Longing Gazes. I asked FYNIX to check out the songs I had in progress for my new EP and he expressed interest in remixing Longing Gazes. The final result was Taking Back Sunday which is a completely different mood, tone and song from the original. It went from somber to slapping real fast. I ended up adding Longing Gazes as a bonus track on Castaways Vol. 2 so listeners could see the difference in the tracks and appreciate what FYNIX did with the production.

 

Who inspires you?

Other underground artists that have created a loyal following by being consistent and genuine. The Grouch, Saul Williams, Gift of Gab and Copywrite are a few that come to mind. The Producers I work with push me and inspire me to create also. FYNIX and Casey Macem send me beats that make me drop everything and write. It's a beautiful thing.

 

Where do you see your career in 5 years?

Still grinding and working with like minded artists. This is my outlet and my passion so until I'm incapable of doing it I will continue to create.

Round Planet Entertainment is also doing a limited run of Castaways Vol. 2 Cassette Tapes on Bandcamp that should be out soon.

 

Tell us something about yourself that people need to know.

Listening to my favorite artists helped me through a lot of uncertainty and issues in my life. I'm trying to do the same 1 person at a time, 1 song at a time.
