Major D-Star is no stranger to us in the Hip-Hop industry! This past September we sat with his super dope Motown Sound project, which was built around a series of soundbites from Motown founder Berry Gordy. One of the standouts from that project was “Solo,” which he is now pushing as a single — for a good reason: it knocks.
Back in September, we called it a “dirt all by my lonely anthem,” and that stands.
“I be ridin’ solo dolo, n*gga,” he raps at the beginning of the track. On a bassy sound bed with moody orchestral sweeps, he drops bars that describe his general distrust of those not in his immediate circle. His team is tight-knit — and for a good reason. “If I don’t f*ck with you, they don’t f*ck with you,” he spits near the end of verse one.
“This sh*t been overdue, so I'm getting impatient,” he spits on the song’s second verse. Whether or not you’ve been following the Florida transplant (by way of Detroit), he’s been making some serious moves.
